Holiday Update and So Long to Paper Pregnancy

The holidays are busy enough, but when you find out you have a son half way across the world and in order to get him home you need about seven pounds of papers to be completed, it makes it a bit more hectic.

To make it even more crazy, our dog Roxy ate a piece of wire from the Christmas tree and had to have emergency surgery. Just what you need when you are in the middle of an adoption.

We spent Christmas with family and then New Year's at a wedding for our dear friends. It was such a beautiful and fun weekend complete with both Indian and Catholic ceremonies. The wedding was breathtaking, every detailed planned perfectly, and most of all, we could not be happier for two people that have become best friends to us. They have supported our adoption so graciously and we were excited to share in this wonderful occasion with them too!

The last few weeks we have also been gathering all of the paperwork to file for court - when I said seven pounds, you probably thought I was being dramatic. I was not. It is the truth. But I would do 100 pounds if I had too - I already love Little R that much! We also have a couple-best-friend that we have grown close to through adoption and he happens to be a notary. He notarized all of our documents for free and saved us hundreds of dollars. We really do have the best of friends.

We were also able to send Little R a photo book and little blanket that will be delivered to him in the next few weeks.

So now paper pregnancy is over and we are in the process of waiting again. We are waiting on a court date and any pictures that we are lucky enough to get passed our way. The good news is we should be able to get a court date soon and we anxiously await that news! I am so excited for our trip, the people we will meet, and the unimaginable ways God is going to reveal Himself and His plan.

I cannot wait to meet Little R, to pick him up and hug on him. The day we got his referral picture I immediately sent it to Walgreen's to be printed. I got 12 copies. Why? I do not know. Maybe because we have waited since April. Maybe because he is just that darn cute. Or, maybe because he is our first kid. I am not sure, but I did, and they are everywhere...my purse, our living room, the refrigerator (just in case you missed the one 10 feet away on the coffee table). His little face is sure permanent in my memory now and I love to think and pray for him.

The good news is there is still much to be done during this waiting phase. We have an eight page packing list that needs to be fulfilled and a room to decorate and fill. Basically if you cannot find us, we are likely searching Amazon, reading travel blogs, or at BabiesRUs. :)

Thank you for everyone who has followed along and joined this journey with us. We are so grateful for all of your prayers and encouragement.

  2. Thanks! Are you referring to the one of his room on the other post? It is Aqua-Sphere (SW7613) from Shermin Williams - we love it!
